Boxing Keeps Carlos Balderas Out of Trouble and Sends Him to the Olympics

Carlos Balderas has always been a fighter.

But now instead of getting in trouble for hitting, he is being rewarded.

The 19-year old Santa Maria High School graduate will represent the United States in boxing at the Rio Summer Olympics.

He is fighting in the 132 pound lightweight division.

After getting in trouble time and time again in school for fighting, Balderas’ family introduced him to boxing.

His talents flourished and in 2014 he became the Junior and Youth Open National Champion.

Olympic Boxing begins on August 6.
