Candlelight Vigil Held At Santa Barbara Courthouse

More than one-hundred people gathered at the Santa Barbara Courthouse on Sunday for a peaceful vigil to remember the victims of recent violence across the country.

The candlelight vigil was organized on Facebook and is a part of the Black Lives Matter movement.

People who attended lit candles and participated in a moment of silence.

Organizers read names of dozens of people killed by police or in police custody.

They also honored the officers murdered in Dallas.

Organizers said they wanted the gathering to be constructive, positive and conducive to an open dialogue.

One man interrupted the vigil during the open mike.

Police made contact with him and he left on his own accord.

Organizers said they recently met with Mayor Helene Schneider, police and local leaders.

All parties plan to meet in the coming weeks to talk about ways to bridge the gap in the community.
