SLO County Certifies June Primary Vote

California Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, Santa Barbara County Supervisor Salud Carbajal and newcomer Justin Fareed are the top vote-getters in San Luis Obispo County in the race to replace retiring Democrat Congresswoman Lois Capps, according to the final, officials results from the June primary election certified by the County.

The top two vote-getters in the race for the 24th Congressional District seat occupied by the retiring Capps will face each other in the November general election.

Democrat Salud Carbajal is officially the top vote-getter in San Luis Obispo County followed by Republican Katcho Achadjian.

Unofficial results have Justin Fareed ahead of Achadjian in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties which would put him in the November runoff against Carbajal.

“We built a campaign from the bottom up and felt an overwhelming amount of support from people from all different backgrounds, on both sides of the political aisle”, Fareed says about his campaign and candidacy, “I think what we are seeing so far in the results is exactly that, the backing of so many people around the Central Coast, so we’re optimistic. I’m excited about the opportunity to move forward and continue building this campaign here locally.”

In a phone interview with Central Coast News, Katcho Achadjian would not concede the second place vote until it becomes official in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
