Ventura Mother Accused of Killing 22-Month-Old Child

A 27-year-old Ventura mother is behind bars after police charged her with the murder of her 22-month-old boy.

Jessica Navarro is alleged to have physically assaulted the child and caused his death. According to investigators, Navarro told police the child was injured after falling from a crib. When Ventura City Fire personnel arrived on scene just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the child was found unresponsive and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he died upon arrival.

The Ventura Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation and identified Navarro as the suspect in this case. She was arrested and booked at Ventura County Jail.

No other details were immediately known. This is an ongoing investigation.
