Santa Barbara Couple Searching for Missing Son, Police Investigating
A Santa Barbara couple are looking for their 33 year old son who went missing almost a month ago.
Matthew Abrams called his dad on May 12th to wish him a happy birthday and hasn’t been heard from since.
“Of course I was excited. It’s always nice to get a phone call from your son on your birthday.. who happened to remember,” said Richard Abrams, Matthew Abrams’ father.
The phone call last several minutes, but left a lasting impression on Abrams’ mother, Beverly Abrams.
“When somebody says ‘okay’ you feel funny. You have this impulse to say.. We were in Cambria.. Do you want us to come up to Big Sur to visit you? I thought you’re being a mom, leave him alone. He’s had enough, but I wish I had,” said Beverly Abrams.
Two days later, the 33-year-old missed a lunch meeting and didn’t return home. He was last seen driving his Subaru down a hill in Big Sur.
“He’s very dependable so it was so out of character that they did report him missing,” said Beverly Abrams.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Department is investigating his disappearance. Abrams was working as a maintenance worker in Big Sur.
There has been no activity on his bank accounts, phone, email and social media accounts. His parents are worried he might have been hurt by someone. Abrams does not have any known substance abuse issues.
“I have always told my kids that I would never leave any stone unturned if anything happened,” said Beverly Abrams.
His mother says Matthew left his razor behind, so he might have a full beard.
