San Diego Man Killed in Paso Robles ATV Crash On Memorial Day
A 30-year-old San Diego man was killed Monday afternoon after failing to navigate a dirt road turn and rolling over the Rhino ATV he was driving.
Medical aid was called out to the Shasta Club private property in the 3500 block of Soda Road in the Lake Nacimiento area at about 2:12 p.m.
Resuscitation efforts failed and Joshua Anthony Buttitta was declared dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol says Buttitta was driving in circles and traveling between 15 and 20 mph when the ATV overturned with a passenger on board, 25-year-old Andrew Jupin, also from San Diego. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The left side of the ATV collided with the dirt surface of the ground and Buttitta suffered blunt force trauma, which caused his dead according to the CHP. It’s unclear whether Buttitta collided with the ground, the ATV or both.
Jupin was not injured in the crash.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Investigation into the circumstances of the accident is continuing by the California Highway Patrol.
