Bohnett Park Gets Colorful New Playground Equipment
Just in time for summer, Santa Barbara’s Bohnett Park has new playground equipment. It is one of heaviest used parks in the city, located in a densely populated part of town.
The last change in playground equipment was in 2006.
The structures are for children ages five through 12 with parental supervision.
The playground has a soft surface in case anyone falls, instead of hard dirt, asphalt or concrete that parks had years ago.
The children trying out the park were on the swings, and climbing replica trees. They were also going down the slides forwards and backwards, fueled by enthusiasm and screams.
The city says the three acre park was opened in 1936.
In recent years, there have been many improvements and outreach programs along with movie nights, and other community activities.
