Family Members Arriving From China After Han Murders in The Goleta Valley

The triple murder of Dr. Henry Han, his wife Jennie and daughter Emily has shocked the Santa Barbara, and Goleta communities. It has also been felt thousands of miles away in China.

NewsChannel 3 has learned family members have been getting their international travel papers together and are flying here to deal with the tragic loss. They are expected to arrive today or tomorrow.

Suspect Pierre Haobsh appeared in Santa Barbara Superior Court Tuesday and his arraignment has been delayed while legal proceedings are sorted out, including a conflict over an attorney that has been assigned to him.

Reporter Raymond Gao is in Santa Barbara writing news for The China Press, a publication out of Alhambra near Los Angeles. He says the story is being followed very closely in China and there are many unanswered questions. ” What is the motivation, why?? That’s why I am here,” said Gao.”One thing I can confirm, is money involved.”

Dr. Han did go to Los Angeles and Alhambra often and was part of a herbal medicine association.

“He is a board member, a trustee. The reason this case is reviewed is because he didn’t attend one regular meeting. It was weird. Some members come here to see why he didn’t attend the meeting or answer the call,” said Gao.

Sheriff Bill Brown announced the arrest of Haobsh Friday after the Han family was found in the garage of their upscale Goleta Valley home March 23. They were deceased and wrapped in cellophane. The coroner’s office said yesterday all of the victims had gunshot wounds to their head.

Gao said he is investigating a reported civil conflict between Haobsh and Dr. Han, and information that Haobsh had been upset inside the Santa Barbara Wellness Center where Han worked, early last week.

The only court hearing has been difficult to follow,”….so they don’t know what the counsel is arguing about. They are asking changes. Changing the attorney they don’t like a civil case mixed with the criminal case. We don’t know what they are talking about,” said Gao.
