Local Hair Salon Donates Sunday’s Profits To Santa Barbara YMCA

The Walter Claudio Salon in Santa Barbara was buzzing on Sunday.

Chairs were filled on a day when the salon is usually closed.

Stylists volunteered their time and cut hair.

The money from each hair cut was donated to the Santa Barbara YMCA.

“We are middle of the 2016 Annual Campaign which raises money every year to make sure no family is turned away from the Santa Barbara YMCA’s programs,” said Julie Ann Hofbauer, Financial Development Director.

Donations provide financial assistance to preschool children, after school child care, youth sports, aquatics programs and more.

The Santa Barbara YMCA is a non-profit that gives out more than $500,000 in financial aid every year. One in four members receives financial assistance. One in five preschool children receives financial assistance.

The 2016 Annual Campaign aims to raise $185,000.

The campaign ends on March 9.
