An arrest has been made in a 2014 rape case out of UC Santa Barbara.

The suspect, 21-year-old Daniel Jiang Chen of San Ramon, California, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the rape. He was a UCSB student from September 2012 to December 2013.

Chen was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicious of rape, false imprisonment, and battery with serious bodily injury.

Authorities say they were able to connect Chen to the crime through DNA evidence.

A complaint filed against the University of California Regents in connection with the rape, alleges that a female student was on the streets of Isla Vista when she was taken to the track area on the UCSB campus against her will and sexually assaulted for several hours.

The victim managed to escape her attackers and was treated at a nearby hospital for injuries she suffered during the brutal attack.

UCSB says it is aware of the legal action but have not commented on the case.
