Police Investigating Stabbing Near Santa Barbara High School

Santa Barbara police and paramedics are on scene of a stabbing that occurred Tuesday afternoon near Santa Barbara High School.

The assault was reported at about 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of Olive Street near the Carrillo intersection. At least one victim was located suffering from stab wounds. That person was taken to Cottage Hospital for medical treatment.

It’s unknown if the high school has been placed on lockdown.

Authorities believe there are two suspects in this case. Both are described as Hispanic male adults. One suspect had a shaved head and was last seen running northbound from the scene. A second suspect was seen wearing a blue shirt.

Early reports indicate that the stabbing may possibly be gang related.

The incident is under investigation by the Santa Barbara Police Department. Anyone with information related to this crime is encouraged to call the SBPD at 805-897-2300.
