Emergency Crews Rescue Woman Trapped In Car Over-The-Side

Emergency crews are on scene of a vehicle over the side reported on Old San Marcos Road and Highway 154 Thursday morning.

The incident was reported by the driver at about 8:28 a.m. according to Capt. Dave Zaniboni with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The emergency call ended abruptly leading officials to believe that the phone’s battery may have died.

At first, County Dispatch was able to ping the phone to a general area of Highway 154 and Painted Cave Road through Verizon. But a county helicopter located the woman

A helicopter and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team assisted in searching for the vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies shut down Painted Cave Road in the immediate area to allow the Search and Rescue team to carry on its operation.

One woman was loaded into an ambulance on scene and went to the hospital with moderate injuries.
