Vista Lago Adventure Park Brings Extreme to Central Coast

After almost a year of being open, The Vista Lago Adventure Park in Arroyo Grande brings extreme to the Central Coast.

The KCOY 12’s Morning Show crew Claire Anderson and Tony Cabrera checked out the park and learned what it takes to hit the ropes.

Vista Lago Course Manager Matthew Diddings said, “It brings people together, you’re way out of our comfort zone.”

Harnesses, helmets and carabineers are just some of the items you need for the adventure course.

To get ready you step into the harness, learn how to work the carabineers, which holds you secure to the safety ropes, grab a helmet and gloves and then it was time to the head up to the course.

The park has 4 different challenge levels and several zip lines.

“I really enjoy the course, it’s a good challenge. Some people don’t enjoy the course so much. Zip lining is a lot easier,” explained Diddings.

All of the courses take balance and concentration, but some take a bit more strength.

Diddings said, “The black course is significantly harder then all of them. There is not really any of them that you are catching a break on, all of them are a good challenge.”

Vante Johnson, who was on the course with his work group said, “The obstacle course with the tires and then this last one where you are all upper body strength the whole distance was my favorite.”

“It was really challenging and fun, a good way to enjoy the summer heat, and also get a work out,” explained Johnson.

People of all ages were taking on the challenge and everyone finished with a sense of accomplishment.

8-year-old Keria Mullin said, “It was challenging. We walked on ropes and bridges and we went on zip lines.”

The course helpers said the mental aspect is a major part of the course.

“A lot of people that do come out here are trying to overcome or get out of their comfort zone a little bit,” explained Diddings.

To finish the day, everyone jumped on the zip line, which takes you soaring over what used to be part Lake Lopez.

After a long day of high wiring and balancing, the park definitely met the adventure requirements, and with the new ‘Quick Jump’, which allows a 40 foot free fall, coming soon, the park is it will bring in even more adventure seekers.

Every month, Vista Lago Adventure Park also gives back to the community with 1% profit going to a charity, organization or individual in need
