Santa Maria Smoke Shop Employee Arrested For Allegedly Selling Drugs

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says that its narcotics detectives arrested a Santa Maria man for allegedly selling drugs at Johnny’s Smoke Shop located at 1975 south Broadway in Santa Maria.

Joe Ruben Gonzales, 26, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after detectives discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, ammunition, and narcotics packaging materials under his control. A second search warrant was served at Gonzales’ home that resulted in the seizure of more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Gonzales is an employee at the smoke shop.

He was booked in Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Gonzalez’ bail was set at $35,000.
