Prank Sets Off Over-head Sprinklers at Delta High School in Orcutt

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to Delta High School Friday morning shortly before 8 a.m. for what turned out to be a prank.

Fire officials say a student tampered with an over-head sprinkler triggering that sprinkler to go off. A few students complained of minor skin irritation.

Authorities say they are doing just fine. No one was transported to the hospital.

Two classrooms were damaged when the sprinklers went off. Some 300 students were evacuated.

County firefighters are working to replace ceiling sprinkler head.

Initial reports of an electrical fire or explosion are not true.
