A teen is undergoing surgery at a local hospital after a stabbing Monday afternoon in Camarillo left him with serious injuries.

The stabbing occurred on the parking lot of the Taco Bell located at 1505 Flynn Road at about 1:15 p.m.

The incident prompted the closure of the popular fast food restaurant, and shocked many area residents.

“It is very unusual for Camarillo. It is hard to believe this happened at our local Taco Bell. It is almost unfathomable,” said Cindy Fox, a Camarillo resident.

Leticia Pinedo, said that she moved to Camarillo to avoid this type of violence. “I am in shock. I am in complete shock and awe. I was driving by when I saw this cornered off in yellow tape. I was in shock because I moved to the city of Camarillo, for its beauty and the safety of it. I moved away from Oxnard to avoids scenes like this and I am shocked I walked into this,” she said.

According to law enforcement, two groups of individuals in their late teens, early 20’s, were involved in some type of altercation that led to someone receiving serious stab wounds. Another individual transported the victim to the hospital.

“I just ate here before they cornered it off and I was told it was a gang related issue, which I am shocked to see in this area. That is why I moved out of Ventura over here to get away from that,” stated Camarillo resident Jason Stephens.

Authorities will not say how or where the victim was stabbed at this time. The incident is under investigation.

Police are still searching for the suspects. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
