2-Year-Old Treated For Serious Injuries, Paso Robles Man Arrested

A Paso Robles man is facing felony child abuse charges after detectives were called to investigate a report of a child suffering from significant injuries.

Detectives with the Paso Robles Police Department responded to a hospital in Madera after a social worker from SLO County Child Welfare Services informed them Wednesday evening, about a 2-year-old girl who was being treated for significant injuries.

The little girl had multiple fractures and other injuries that were inconsistent with the description of events that the child’s mother and her live-in boyfriend, identified as Francisco Javier Chavez, 27, gave to police.

The 2-year-old was initially treated at Twin Cities Community Hospital but was later transferred to a Madera hospital due to the extent of her injuries.

Further investigation by detectives led to the arrest of Chavez who was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
