Armed Suspect Arrested After Robbing an Atascadero 99 Cent Store

Atascadero police have arrested an armed suspect who they say robbed a 99 Cent Store at 7101 El Camino Real in Atascadero.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Kyle Kitchin, was located three hours after the crime had taken place, walking through the Vons parking lot near the crime scene.

99 Cent Store employees confirmed that the suspect was carrying a handgun at the time of the robbery. No one was hurt.

The suspect took off with an unknown amount of money from the store. Officers reviewed video surveillance and collected evidence at the scene.

Police said they found Kitchin in possession of a loaded firearm when he was taken into custody. A large amount of cash was also found with him according to investigators.

Kitchin was booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail for robbery, possession of a concealed weapon, criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, and three outstanding warrants for his arrest.
