Movie Weatherman Talks to Local Meteorologist About Role

Actor Steve Carell was in town for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Friday night and was the 2015 Outstanding Performer of the Year.

Carell spoke with our own meteorologist Meredith Garofalo about the role they both share: forecasting the weather.

“It was fun!” Carell said. “Just depicting, like sort of lampooning that role was a lot of fun!”

Carell, of course, played the infamous weather man Brick Tamland in Anchorman.

What’s most interesting about playing a weather man in the movies, Carell said it’s a role that wasn’t hard to do.

“It’s basically just who I am,” Carell said. “There really is no impression to it. It’s kind of just a simpler version of me.”

Carell is up for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars for his role in Foxcatcher.
