Helical Products Company Sold After 40-Year Ownership

The owners of Helical Products Company have owned the company for more than 40 years on Feb. 9 they announced MW Industries, a provider of engineered springs, specialty fasteners, machines parts and other precision components acquired Helical Products Company Inc., a manufacturer of standard couplings U-Joints, and machined springs.

Dave Hastings, president of Helical Products, said “The owners have owned the company for more than 40 years, they’re along in age and it’s time to sell the company. They both always insisted that when the time came they wanted to stay here in Santa Maria for the sake of all the employees.”

Hastings said last year they sent people out to look for companies to sell Helical Products Company to.

“They’re highly confident that they can help us grow the business much faster than we could’ve on our own and keep the jobs here in Santa Maria,” Hastings said.

The company started in 1958 in Redando Beach, and moved to Santa Maria in 1973 and we’ve grown slowly over the years.

“Coming up from Redando Beach there were 6 of us, and we slowly grew to 25 and 50 over the years and we’re currently at about 125 employees,” Hastings said.
