ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The Arroyo Grande Eagle Athletic Foundation will hold its annual Hall Of
Fame Dinner on Saturday, January 24, 2015. In addition to serving as a fundraiser for the Eagle
Athletic Foundation, the event will also include the induction of four new members into its Athletic
Hall Of Fame, all of whom have contributed significantly to the high school in various capacities. The
inductees include three past athletes, Bryan Jones, Dan Lambert, Angela Orefice Neary, as well as
community supporter Larry Wiemers. The event, sponsored in part by Mullahey Ford, will be held for
the 7th straight year at the South County Regional Center in Arroyo Grande.

An exceptional three-sport standout, Bryan Jones enjoyed a record breaking career at Arroyo Grande
before continuing his success at the NCAA level. A two-year letterman in football, the 1994 graduate
racked up several honors including, all-CIF, all-Northern League and all-County selections. While Jones
also played on the varsity basketball team for two years, it was on the track where he really shined.
He lettered for three years, and earned all-League honors each season. Jones won league
championships and set school records in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. He also won the
1994 CIF 300-meter hurdle championship and helped lead the Eagles to the CIF Division II team title.
After graduation, he accepted a scholarship to play football at Oregon State, where he developed into
a key defensive contributor, twice earning all-Pac 10 honors. Following his college career, Jones was
selected in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins and later spent time with the St.
Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers.

A beginner at tennis when he entered Arroyo Grande as a freshman, Dan Lambert quickly established
himself a premiere high school player and would eventually finish as one of the top players in Central
Coast history. A four-year varsity team member, the 1970 graduate helped lead the Eagles to fourstraight
league championships and a pair of CIF team runner-up finishes. During his junior and senior
seasons, he was undefeated during both CIF postseason competitions. He also placed first in singles
and doubles at the USTA National Public Parks Junior Tennis Championships in 1969 and doubles
again in 1970. In college at Cal Poly, Lambert was named Division II All-American all four years and
helped lead the Mustangs to four-consecutive conference championships. Individually, he was
conference singles champion three times and doubles champion twice. Nationally, he finished as the
Division II singles runner-up three times. In 1993, Lambert became the first tennis player to be
inducted into the Cal Poly Hall of Fame.

In its long and distinguished history of excellence, the Arroyo Grande distance program has produced
few runners more decorated than Angela Orefice Neary. A four-year varsity team member, the 1992
graduate is one of just two Eagles to win a CIF girls cross country individual championship, taking the
title in 1991. Orefice Neary also placed third individually in CIF on two separate occasions. The fourtime
Northern League champion also led the Eagles to the 1990 CIF team championship, the fourth in
program history, and a pair of runner-up finishes in 1989 and 1991. On the track, she was county
champion three times in the 3200 meters and placed third in the same event at CIF in 1990. During
her college career at Cal Poly, Orefice Neary won numerous individual titles and awards, including
conference championships in both sports, and was named All-American three times. After college,
she continued to run, including twice competing in the USA Cross Country Nationals. She also
coached collegiately, including a stint at the University of Arkansas.

A fixture on the Arroyo Grande campus while serving in several different positions, Larry Wiemers has
been an institution at the school for half a century. In his 50 years of service, he has guided students
as a teacher, coach, counselor and administrator. His career with the district began in 1963 and
continued through 1999. Over that period, Wiemers dedicated himself to Eagle athletics, primarily as
a tennis coach and also as a timekeeper for football and basketball. In his two-stints as varsity tennis
coach, he led the boys team to several league championships and a pair of CIF runner-up finishes in
1969 and 1970. His career as scoreboard operator, a vital, behind-the-scenes role, began in 1964 and
continued through this past football season. During his long association with the school, there is no
other individual who has volunteered as much time, appropriately, as Wiemers, who even in
retirement, continues to tirelessly serve and support Arroyo Grande athletics.
