UCSB Loses at Home to CSUN

Devonte Elliott had a career-high 23 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double to lead Cal State Northridge over UC Santa Barbara 74-63 on Thursday night.

Stephan Hicks added 17 points as the Matadors (5-13, 1-2 Big West) shot 56.1 percent, made 7 of 10 3-pointers and hit 21 of 22 free throws. Landon Drew contributed a career-high 12 assists.

Gabe Vincent led UCSB (8-8, 1-1) with 15 points. Alan Williams, who came in averaging 17.9 points and 12.1 rebounds, was slowed by illness and finished with five points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes. He became the sixth player in Big West history to log both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career.

UCSB trailed 67-61 with 2:53 left before Elliott made four free throws and Stephen Maxwell added a layup and two more free throws while the Gauchos missed seven consecutive shots.

UCSB plays at Long Beach State on Saturday.
