Some Lights Back But Many Still Out at Paseo Nuevo

UPDATE 7:13 p.m.:

Some lights are coming back on, but many stores in Paseo Nuevo remain dark after a power outage.

There is no known cause yet, but the outage plunged the downtown Santa Barbara mall into darkness Thursday evening.

Staff members report lights out at restaurants including the California Pizza Kitchen, where waiters are using flashlights and lights from cell phones to move through the facility.

As of 7:00 p.m., Southern California Edison had not reported an outage in the area.

Reporters on the scene are watching people use lights from their cell phones to walk through the mall safely.
