Food Banks Oppose Food Stamp Changes

Food stamp recipients in New Jersery, New Hampshire, Michigan and Wisconsin are feeling the effects of food stamp cuts. Their food benefits are now linked to heating assistance.

California and other states have found ways to avoid drastic cuts.

But Bonnie Campbell, the director of community impact at Food Bank of Santa Barbara County, said people have already felt the impact of CalFresh cuts.

Calfresh is the name for food stamps in California and it comes in the form of debit cards.

She said it’s a tough time for food banks throughout the state because the season of giving has come to an end.
