Ventura Father Accused of Killing Son Booked in Jail
The man suspected of stabbing his 1-year-old son to death in a Ventura home early Friday morning has been transferred to jail after being released from the hospital.
Ventura Police Commander Darin Schindler said 28-year-old Adrian Navarrete-Gonzalez was booked on a murder charge Monday.
Police were called to the home on the 400 block of Crocker Avenue after Gonzalez reported that his child was deceased at his home. Ventura police said when they arrived on scene the child was already dead after suffering a stab wound to his upper torso.
Gonzalez was also suffering from a stab wound on his chest. He was transported to Ventura County Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery.
Schindler said last week that the father had separated from the child’s mother and had shared custody. Police offered no motive for the child’s stabbing.
