Santa Barbara Police Vehicle Involved in Collision

A Santa Barbara Police officer was treated and released from Cottage Hospital after a collision with a Range Rover just before 9:30 p.m Tuesday.

The accident happened at the intersection of Mission Street and the Highway 101 northbound off ramp at Mission St.

The Range Rover was making a right-hand turn from the off ramp when it struck the police car. The impact caused damage to the front end and passenger side of the police cruiser.

The Range Rover driven by a 69-year-old Lompoc woman sustained moderate damage. The driver was not hurt.

The Santa Barbara Police Department said that at the time of the collision, a prisoner was in the back of the patrol car. That person was not hurt. However, the police officer complained of pain.

Police determined the Lompoc woman to be at fault for unsafe movement. She has not been cited or arrested.
