Santa Barbara DUI Crash Kills Small Dog

Santa Barbara Police officers are investigating a two car crash Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on the 1900 block of Cliff Drive in Santa Barbara.

Officers said one woman was driving out of the near-by gas station when she collided with another car.

The woman in the car that was hit was traveling with a small Yorkie dog named Gizzmo.

Authorities said Gizzmo died in the collision. Both women sustained minor injuries from the accident and were taken to the hospital.

Investigators on scene conducted a sobriety test on the first driver.

They found her blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Both cars involved were towed away with major damage.
