SCE Settles Suit With Ventura County

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced the settlement of a suit between the county and Southern California Edison.

SCE agreed to pay about $170,000 to resolve environmental allegations.

Laws require the filing of a hazardous materials business plan or HMBP for all 47 SCE electrical transformers.

The transformers contain combustible mineral oil that would requires a specialized response in the event of a fire.

A self audit by SCE found that the company had not submitted all the of required materials.

A majority of the financial settlement cover the cost of the investigation.
