Behind-the-Scenes Look at Andy Iro’s Early Morning Soccer Training at Cate School

Andy Iro was a a key figure on UCSB’s squad that won the NCAA Championship in 2006. He anchored the defense and helped the Gauchos beat UCLA in the title game to secure the University’s first-ever National title in soccer.

The Liverpool-born Iro went on to have a successful career in the MLS.Iro was drafted by the Columbus Crew with the sixth overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft and he helped theCrew win the MLS cup in his first season with the club.

In recent years, Iro has turned his attention to training the next generation of soccer players. His early-morning workouts are known for being intense and fundamental-based.

Iro learned the game of soccer in English academies, and he runs his training sessions in similar fashion.Here is an inside look at one of Iro’s recent training sessions with several members of Cate School’s soccer program.
