Rocket Lifts Off During Break in Bad Weather

The most powerful Atlas rocket to ever blast off from the West Coast lifted off just after 7 p.m. Friday.

Rocket scientists said it was the 455th time this type of engine has flown into space, but this engine has major improvements.

The rocket is carrying a classified payload for the National Reconnaissance Office.

Rocket launch fans said it was fun to speculate about what is onboard. They said they hope it will benefit everyone.

Thursday’s launch was scrubbed because of the storm.
