Flood Repair Businesses Inundated With Calls For Help After Storm

Local flood repair businesses are getting swamped with calls for help after Thursday night’s big storm.

Qwik Response of Santa Barbara says its call volume went up about a thousand percent overnight.

The 24-hour business makes calls to homes from Ventura to Santa Maria.

Crews were out at one home near the San Marcos Pass Friday.

During the storm, a deck drain at the home clogged up with leaves and flooding the kitchen.

The damage estimate is about $60,000.

Workers used large drying fans and commercial dehumidifiers to dry everything out.

Qwik Response owner and CEO Steve Knight says mold can be a big problem after a home floods.

“The real concern when things get wet is mold. It can grow in 24 to 48 hours. Get it handled as soon as possible,” Knight said.

Knight also said one of the best things people can do to avoid flooding is to clear out rain gutters and rooftops.
