UPDATE: Amber Alert Children Safe. Father in Custody.

[Update: 10:31 a.m. PT] Daniel Diego Perez, 43, who sparked an Amber Alert across multiple counties has been taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol shortly after 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Perez exited from the black Toyota Camry he was driving after a standoff with CHP on a transition road between the 52 and 67 freeways in San Diego County. He was seen with a child next to him as he exited the car.

Perez let the child go and was tackled and arrested.

Perez’s three other children were also rescued. All four children are safe.

The California Highway Patrol sent out an Amber Alert across multiple counties including Santa Barbara County. Four children, ages 6 to 11, were taken by their biological father on Saturday, December 6.

The suspect, 43-year-old Daniel Diego Perez, is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a 2014 black Toyota Camry with the California license plate, 7FDS891.

The first victim is 11-year-old Jordan Dante Perez. CHP says it’s unknown what type of clothing Jordan was wearing the day he disappeared. The same goes for his three brothers, 9-year-old Jaden Eric Perez, 8-year-old Tristin Devin Perez, and Alex Hayden Perez, 6 years old.

Various news outlets are reporting that Perez became the primary suspect after Montebello Police found a woman’s body, believed to be the children’s mother, in the trunk of the family’s car.

Relatives said the couple had a rocky relationship and a history of domestic violence.

If seen, contact the Montebello Police Department at 323-887-1313.
