Solvang Decks The Halls For The Holiday Season

The Jule Hus shop in Solvang celebrates Christmas everyday of the year, but for the Julefest everyone decks the halls.

Community director Susan Williams said, “We have hundreds of decorated trees all over town, and at night this place is really magical.”

Not only is the holidays fun and festive, its also about bringing business to shops, boutiques and bakeries.

“We have a program in place called ‘Think Local First’ and we really need to encourage shop small, shop locally. It helps the revenue of our town, it helps are tax base and it keeps all these businesses here,” explains Williams.

By decorating and emphasizing the holidays, the city hopes to attract more foot traffic and to encourage locals and tourists to take in the sights and as well as take a few items.

Williams said, “All the merchants get together and go all out with promotions and things. You see lots of your friends and neighbors shopping around here too.”

It’s a community effort to make the Danish town come to life, and it’s not hard to feel the joy of the holidays while you’re there.
