Milpas St. Holiday Tree is Solar Powered

The colorful holiday tree on Milpas St. in Santa Barbara is lit up every night even though it’s not near an electrical outlet. A solar panel is providing the energy needed to power the decorations.

The tree was made possible with the help of the Santa Barbara City Fire dept. and the Milpas Community Association, a locally based group of business leaders and community supporters.

It was lit up last Saturday night in a special ceremony.

The tree is located in the traffic roundabout near Highway 101. There’s no electrical outlet in that area.

Milpas St. and the Santa Barbara Eastside will hold the annual parade Saturday night starting at 5:30 p.m.

This years Grand Marshal is Rick Feldman from the Eyeglass Factory.
