Burglary at a Goleta Shop

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for multiple suspects in connection with a burglary at the Goleta Smoke Shop in the 6800 block of Hollister Avenue that occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A Sheriff’s helicopter assisted with the search.

NewsChannel 3 spoke with an employee at the Goleta Smoke Shop who said two men and two women came into the store. Then fled with an unknown amount of money.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Kelly Hoover said no weapons were involved.

Hoover said the two women and one of the men distracted the clerk while the fourth suspect took the money from behind the counter.

“They ran out the front door past the vehicle they had driven up with,” stated Hoover. “This incident…is a Commercial Burglary or a Grand Theft of U.S. currency.”

The actual crime will be determined and finalized after the investigation is completed.
