Parade of Lights Threatened by Rain

Just about everywhere in Santa Maria people prepared for the annual Parade of Lights.

“It is definitely the biggest event in town,” said Co-Chair of the parade, Mike Gibson.

“It’s just a great community event, lots of lights, lots of fun, lots of people spreading holiday cheer,” he said.

The threat of rain has some participants worried.

“We actually haven’t been in any parades that have had any potential of rain,” said Hector Paz, Owner of Premier Auto Body in Santa Maria.

This is the fourth year he and his family have participated in the parade.

“We’ll finish the last little bit of details,” said Paz. “If it potentially is going to rain we’ll keep these covered up until the last minute and then we’ll remove them.

Paz said they are preparing for rain, but hoping for sunshine.
