Santa Barbara Parks crews were hard at work removing an old ficus tree that came crashing down at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Santa Barbara City Firefighters placed caution tape around the area.
Neighbors say they heard a crash. The tree hit parts of the building as it went down but no one was hurt and there were no major damages from the fall. It t was a big job for park workers, who spent all morning chopping up the iconic tree.
County officials say the roots from the 80-year-old ficus were rotting and the rain soaked the soil enough to bring the tree down.Slideshow: Large Fig Tree Falls at Santa Barbara Courthouse
