Ficus Tree Falls At Santa Barbara Courthouse

Santa Barbara Parks crews were hard at work removing an old ficus tree that came crashing down at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Santa Barbara City Firefighters placed caution tape around the area.

Neighbors say they heard a crash. The tree hit parts of the building as it went down but no one was hurt and there were no major damages from the fall. It t was a big job for park workers, who spent all morning chopping up the iconic tree.

County officials say the roots from the 80-year-old ficus were rotting and the rain soaked the soil enough to bring the tree down.
