Local Gun Sales Up on Black Friday
Just like electronics and clothing stores, gun shops across the country saw an increase in purchases during the after Thanksgiving sales rush.
In Santa Maria, the trend isn’t any different.
Joe Degeus, Manager of Tacti-Cool Guns in Santa Maria says this Black Friday brought in more sales than last year’s.
New and current gun owners have to pass background checks and go through a 10 day wait period before taking their firearms home.
When it comes to gun sales, around 40 background checks are requested every minute across the country.
On Black Friday, it jumps to two gun checks per second.
Gun owners who have passed background checks still have to go through the process again for each additional gun they buy.
California Attorney General, Kamala Harris requested to delay a Federal Judge’s ruling to overturning that 10 day wait period for current gun owners.
Harris says it would waste the state’s money and time.
Last week, U.S. District Judge, Anthony Ishii rejected the Attorney General’s request.
