Some Local Holiday Shopping Scenes Have a Laid Back Flow
Holiday shoppers in Santa Barbara hit the stores and malls with a more laid back flow than some of the massive mega mall sites, and outlet centers. There was no pushing, shoving, scrambling for deals or overly frenzied behavior.
The discounts were still there and the choices left no one complaining. Most were looking for specific items, and wanted savings in a range in excess of 20 percent but were hoping for more than 40 percent off on some of their key purchases.
On State St. shopper Chris Ramen says he has both a list and does some free style shopping. “A little bit of both,” he said while holding up a new coffee maker. “This was an impulse. 40 percent off.”
One customer, Dory Turk said she is hoping to support local stores on “Small Business Saturday.” “I got an email from the Grapeseed Store so I am going to support them to get something for my mom.”
Many customers were aware the deals will roll out for the entire holiday shopping season. Some, however had more time today and wanted to get a jump on their holiday gift giving.
Santa Barbara shoppers who sometimes go out of town said they like the Camarillo Outlet centers and also selections if they are in Los Angeles.
The next big rush on the stores will be in the days before Christmas.
