Santa Maria Driver Succumbs to Injuries

A driver who suffered major head injuries in a November 14th crash at a busy Santa Maria intersection died early Tuesday morning.

Santa Maria police said Michael Williamson was driving southbound on Broadway when he accelerated toward the intersection at Enos. Williamson’s car hit a vehicle driven by Margaret Casey, who was turning westbound onto Enos. Williamson lost control of his car and hit a light pole. He suffered major head injuries and was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Casey sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office will determine if Williamson was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the crash.

Santa Maria police have identified Williamson as being the driver at fault in this crash.
