Cancer Society Gala Honors Oncology Nurses in Santa Barbara and Ventura

The Riviera Ball held Saturday night at Bacara Resort Saturday night honored oncology nurses in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. The event was a benefit for the American Cancer Society.

Former KEYT anchorwoman Debby Davison hosted the evening which drew a crowd of over 250.

Dr. Fred Kass from the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara with Sansum Clinic called the oncology nurses “day-to-day heroes of our cancer programs.” Many were present at the event.

The acclaimed band Dishwalla from Santa Barbara performed an acoustic set during the silent auction. Later, there was also a live auction.

Funds raised will help with cancer services locally including assistance for cancer victims on low incomes, patient visits by outreach workers, and a 24-hour information line.

The evening’s primary sponsor was Agilent Technologies in Carpinteria. Company President Chuck Bishof said he is encouraged by the cancer research he has seen in recent years and believes we are closer to cures than ever before.

Also attending was David Veneziano, the Executive Vice President of the American Cancer Society, California Division.

The event also featured music from the Brandon Ragan Project and main stage entertainment from RedFish.
