Santa Barbara Rescue Mission Seeks Holiday Turkeys

The Santa Barbara Rescue Mission is gearing up to serve hundreds of people in need this Thanksgiving.

Just a few weeks ago, there was only one turkey in the freezer.

But thanks to generous donors, by the week before the holiday they had 127 birds.

It’s enough enough to serve up a Thanksgiving feast for hundreds of people at the rescue mission and at other organizations.

But, the rescue mission still needs hundreds more for the rest of the holiday season and the following year.

“Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, there are so many meals we provide throughout the year. We provide meals on a nightly basis from anywhere of up to 150 meals per night,” said program technician Clint Allen.

The rescue mission says the local community has stepped up and supported them during this turkey drive.
