Volunteers Clean Up Illegal Marijuana Farm Friday

A marijuana grow in the Los Padres National Forest started to get cleaned up Friday.

Ten volunteers helped collect trash from the illegal pot farm located on the side of a steep hill in Happy Canyon in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Garbage such as clothes, food, pesticides and hundreds of feet of drip irrigation tubing was picked up by the Los Padres ForestWatch.

The marijuana plants were taken out last year but the garbage remained.

It was a difficult process climbing through trees on the side of the hill but volunteers said it was worth the effort.

Next week on NewsChannel 3, we will find out how grows like the one in Happy Canyon effect the county’s dwindling water resources.
