President’s Plan Gets Mixed Reviews
President Obama’s immigration reform plan isn’t just being criticized by Republicans, who will soon control the House and Senate, it is being criticized by reform supporters who said it doesn’t go far enough.
Marina Chavez, a UCSB graduate student, said it is better than nothing, but not enough.
Chavez took issue with the president’s tone during the speech. She said it was full of negative comments about immigrants and a call to add more money to militarize the border.
The plan does not offer amnesty, but it does offer temporary residency for immigrants who qualify.
