Funds Raised for Recount in Pismo Beach Mayoral Race

The San Luis Obispo County election results are certified and incumbent Shelly Higginbotham has held onto her position as Pismo Beach Mayor, defeating challenger Kevin Kreowski by two votes.

A recount of the Pismo Beach mayoral race could take the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office two days; possibly costing up to $3,000.

A crowdsourcing website was set up by Kreowski’s supporters on Monday night, which raised more than their $3,000 goal within 34 hours.

Mayor Higginbotham made the last donation of $495 to help Kreowski fund a recount.

Kreowski says he is amazed and humbled by the community support and finds Higginbotham’s donation as commendable.

He plans to formally file a recount request as early as this Friday.
