Santa Barbara Suspicious Package Shuts Down Street

A detective from the Santa Barbara Police Department received a suspicious package just after 11 a.m. Tuesday. That prompted the evacuation of the annex building of police headquarters.

The 200 block of East Anapamu Street was closed down for a major portion of the day. This allowed the bomb squad and hazmat crews to work. Santa Barbara City Fire was also on scene to assist with the investigation.

There were no injuries reported and officials eventually determined the package was not a threat, and worked to re-open the area.
