Shell Beach Expects a Mixing of New Businesses

The community of Shell Beach is seeing a small business renaissance, as Pismo Beach City Hall is reporting an increase in small business permit applications.

Li Li Clever of Li Li Clever Jewelry brought her small business to Shell Beach after 20 years in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Clever makes hand-made jewelry using exotic beads and crystals.

Clever said the neighborhood of Shell Beach is seeing a renaissance.

Jim Lewis, Pismo Beach City Manager, said, “I have to agree with her we’re seeing a lot of permits go into city hall for new business applications.”

Lewis said some office spaces are changing into boutique shops and some investors are looking into opening new restaurants.

There are several vacant spaces city officials anticipate will fill up soon.

“We’ve seen an increase in the number of applications, particularly downtown” Lewis said.

Lewis said the changing business climate is because people are feeling safer to invest.
