Marathon Medals Arrive a Week Late Due to Port Problems

The Select Staffing Santa Barbara Veterans Day Marathon and half may have ended more than a week ago, but the award winning medals have just crossed the finish line.

They were delayed by the ongoing slow down at the Long Beach and Los Angeles ports.

Cargo containers are sitting for days, when they would have previously been on their way to destinations.

One of the crates from China had medals for the top runners at the recent marathon who were announced at the event but told to wait for the medal to be mailed out.

Volunteers have been sought to help package the medals and send them out Tuesday.

Organizers say they will go to all 50 states and 16 countries including Kenya, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.

Over 4000 runners took part in the annual event that began in Goleta and ended at Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara.
