Four Churches Donate Over 600 Turkeys and Chickens for Thanksgiving
Four Montecito churches combined their efforts over the weekend to help those in need this holiday season.
A turkey and chicken drive brought in 526 turkeys, 147 chickens and about $7600. in cash.
The donations were made by what’s called the M-4 churches. That group consists of All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal, El Montecito Presbyterian, Montecito Covenant , and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The turkeys and chickens filled large bins at Mt. Carmel Sunday and were picked up by charity groups.
The food and cash will be donated to Catholic Charities and the Santa Barbara County Food Bank.
The Food Bank says it can turn each dollar donated into $17. in food. With that, the funds contributed will now become over $130,000 in food products for those in need.
