SLO Store Clerk Attacked

A clerk was viciously attacked by a man San Luis Obispo Police describe as a transient who was carrying a 10-inch fixed blade kitchen knife.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Justin Edmund Pard from San Luis Obispo.

It all started when Pard walked into the Flip Flop Shop in the 800 block of Higuera Street, and initiated a conversation with the clerk. After several minutes inside the store, Pard walked up to the victim and punched her in the face.

The 23-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld by police, suffered a bloody nose and bruising to her face.

Pard initially fled the scene but was spotted sitting at a Barnes and Noble store nearby.

Pard was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on assault charges and carrying a concealed weapon. His bail was set to $2,000.
